Identifying your Core Values
Step 1: To identify your Core Values, start by exploring your answers to these three questions:
- What stirs up an anger inside of you?
- What brings you the most happiness and joy?
- What Core Values do you see revealed in your Life Sentence?
Step 2: Check the values you feel apply to you. Feel free to add others that come to mind.

Dedication, Devotion, Discipline, Discovery, Diversity
Efficiency, Encouragement, Endurance, Enthusiasm, Excellence
Faith, Faithfulness, Family, Fellowship
Generosity, Gentleness, Goodness, Grace, Gratefulness, Growth

Step 3: Now that you’ve checked all the values that apply to you, narrow them down to the top 10, then the top 5. To help you do this, ask yourself these questions:
- Which values do you see reflected in your past experiences?
- Which of these values have you displayed recently?
- Which values would others say are true of you?
It can be hard to narrow down to your Core Values but look at your list and identify the values you just can’t live without!
