Moving from survival-mode leadership to something more sustainable

As a cause-driven leader, nothing excites you more than the vision of a thriving team working effectively to fulfil its purpose, but...

Just the slightest misalignment can cause tension in your organisation, affecting its culture and outcomes. Before long, minor issues mount up to major obstacles. Progress is stalled. People complain. Conversations turn sour. And staff turnover becomes a vicious cycle.

When that happens, your focus shifts from what you can achieve to how you can survive. As a result, your cause suffers.

So how can you future-proof your organisation and bring about positive change?

Over 30 years' experience in leadership and management have taught me that you need to manage things and lead people. When you do that, you give yourself the best possible chance of successfully fulfilling your vision and mission.

In my work as a leadership specialist, I help people— CEOs, teams and organisations—clarify their cause, become more collaborative and take consistent action in order to fulfil their purpose. Adapting proven leadership and project management practices, we identify specific needs and get to work on a sustainable model that will serve them over the long term.

In this way, they bring about positive change and make the difference they set out to achieve.

A Case in Point

After 10+ years of expansion, YMCA North Staffordshire could see a challenging next phase approaching. Questions were looming over how to empower leadership and keep up momentum.

At the same time in 2018, its CEO Danny Flynn asked me to provide a day of leadership development for his Senior Management Team.

In Danny's eyes, that day provided the seed of the solution for future growth. The work has developed into regular facilitation of leadership days involving coaching and strategic business planning—with sustainable results.

I asked Danny to share the story...

"I have no hesitation in recommending Roger for speaking, coaching and teaching. He is a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with."

Mark Faithfull (Cyber Coach, Founder & Lead Consultant)

"I got to know Roger as a bright able man who had a depth of knowledge and skills manifest so clearly in his book “PRIZE Winning Leadership."

Danny Flynn (CEO, YMCA North Staffs)

"I had the great privilege of working with Roger Fairhead in 2020 and 2021... [and] became very familiar with the strength of Roger’s skills not only as a leader, but also as a leadership advisor."

Scott Cochrane (Vice President, International Ministries, Global Leadership Network)
